There will be a wild awakening at Plaza del Torreon in La Cala de Mijas on Sunday, February 2nd with a free percussion workshop.

Group “Percussion Social Space” Drang is organizing four weeks of choreographed sessions on the art of drumming where participants can enjoy a fully dynamic and participatory class experience.

The aim is to create a social experience in La Cala that is as much about following each other’s rhythms as it is about lessons as a member of a marching percussion group. It’s also a bit of a history lesson, as the group learns about the history of Afro-Brazilian beats, but the only prerequisite is that the participants have fun. Rhythms introduced include samba reggae, funk rhythms, and an introduction to signalized rhythms.

The workshop will be held over two days on Sunday, February 6th, and the first session will include an introduction and practice of percussion instruments.

The second session on Sunday, February 9th will include drumming methodology exercises and dynamics.

The third session will be held on Sunday, February 16th, and will include group drumming practice and dynamics.

It concludes with dynamics and music percussion practice on February 20th.

The session will take place at Plaza El Torreon in La Cala Every Sunday in February from 11:30am to 1pm.

Due to limited space, pre-registration is required by phone (952 590 380) or email. kultura@mijas.es.
