The latest Black Edition brings new style to the Volkswagen SUV

VW has launched several new black editions that sit above the R-Line trim and feature black exterior styling elements, including 18-inch alloys for the T-Cross and 20-inch alloys for the Tiguan. The black edition of the car has become synonymous with a sportier version and unique look, and purely from this writer’s point of view, a lighter colored paint finish seems to work better.

Both the T-Cross Edition and the Tiguan Black Edition are equipped with Matrix headlamps that can illuminate the road with bright light up to 500 meters, and LED rear tail lights with dynamic turn signals. The Tiguan Black Edition also includes a driver assistance package, and T-Cross Black Edition customers can choose an upgraded Pure White paint color at no extra charge. For those who like that particular look, the Black Edition treatment is particularly noticeable on white cars.

The T-Cross is available with two petrol engines. One is a 1.5 TSI 115 PS unit combined with manual or automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) and the other is a 1.5 TSI 150 PS with DSG.

The Tiguan is available with a choice of two 2.0 TSI engines that work with DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. a powerful 265 PS version and an all-new 204 PS power plant to the Tiguan range here in the UK. Prices for the T-Cross Black Edition and Tiguan Black Edition start from €35,809/£29,985 and €55,663/£46,605 respectively.

The Black Edition has long been a popular choice among Volkswagen drivers looking for enhanced style and presence. These newcomers bring the number of Black Editions in the Volkswagen range to eight cars, joining the Polo, Tigo, T-Roc, T-Roc R, Golf Hatch and Golf R Black Edition launched early last year .

The T-Cross was updated earlier this year with a new design, enhanced standard equipment, Volkswagen’s latest infotainment technology, and a newly designed interior. The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s best-selling model in the world. The all-new version launched last year features an all-new look inside and out, including a multi-function driving experience switch with an integrated OLED display. The vehicle is built on MQB-evo, the latest version of the Volkswagen Group’s highly successful modular transverse matrix platform and can incorporate a number of new systems and drive profiles.
